Aight! So the lovely Michelle from Daisybutter has collaborated on a contest with New Look in which the winner is awarded £400 worth of clothes! Entrants had to put together 5 holiday outfits for 5 themes using only pieces from New Looks line. This is my entry! Hope you like it, if you'd like to participate the contest page is here. Definitely go have a nosey!
For travelling I'd rather go for comfort than style, however I do take steps to ensure I can begin my holiday looking put together and ready for adventure while still being comfy and cozy while bumming about at the airport and sitting on the plane. This essentially entails interchangeable clothing. The journey starts with some gorgeous baroque leggings (because if I'm truly bored at least I can look at my shiny legs) comfy flats (because people who wear heels in airports are strange) and a snuggly jumper with my summer ready top concealed within. In my bag I sneak some shorts, a piece of jewellery (customs just isn't worth the hassle of wearing jewellery beforehand) and a little slick of lipgloss. A nice simple oversized bag will mean that you can change in the toilets (or if you have no shame, right there in your seat) and the leggings and cardi can be stashed away and the holiday can begin!

For the 'Poolside' look I decided to focus on sunbathing and bumming about a resort rather than actually doing any swimming (that comes later folks) so a simple outfit does just fine. The bikini and shorts can be worn while lying on a sun lounger with a book, and a casual but pretty top can be thrown over for sitting having a quick lunch at the cafe or going for a game of mini golf which is always a laugh. Everything's very light and breathable and the teeny press studs on the sandals toughen up the outfit just a touch and stop it being too saccharine sweet. The bag isn't too loud (nothing says 'steal me' like a bright loud bag) and the zip means your suncream, shades, book and lipbalm are safe and sound.

This look is for a day at the beach, lazing around, a bit of a swim and eating nothing but ice cream and chips (not together...) Everything's low maintenance but stylish. The shoes and bag are bright and fun but can get covered in sand and sunscreen and seawater and will wipe down and wash off. I chose this modest one piece because at the beach I just want to splash around and have a laugh without constantly having to adjust a bikini top and stop the bottoms from slipping down. I love brights for the beach and there aren't many places where neon orange and pink can be worked together so why not make the most of it?

For a dinner out something a little more demure. Incorporating some of my favourite trends: Skulls and baroque print but steering clear of the trend for chunky jewellery I kept it light and simple to create an effortless glamour. The cream dress accentuates a tan beautifully and while it's comfortable, the belt cinches in the waist to add sophistication. The clutch is the real statement piece of the outfit, however the shoes and jewellery all make an impact. The look is finished with a dusting of shimmery bronzer on the cheeks, shoulders and decolletage, soft tousled hair and some fluttery lashes.
For a clubbing look I often feel that a few statement pieces serve better than piling on the accessories, as I want to enjoy my night and dance without jangling or having things fly off my arms. The dress here is incredibly eye-catching but, as the name of the category suggests, it can be folded inside a bag and thrown on over a bikini if you want to go straight from day to night. The shoes are actually a variation on those chosen for the 'sunset supper' look and together with the bag and bracelet they definitely give an edge to the dress and add a bit of that tough look that I love. Having more or less ignored makeup for the beach/pool looks it's fun to add it back in. I've gone with bright yellow polish and peach gloss to contrast with the colours of the rest of the outfit and of course now's the time to crack out the dramatic lashes.
